This project had a series of complex challenges, which made the solution and completion all the more rewarding. The location of this new Pret A Manger store on the Strand, was an old bank which had extremely high ceilings and very limited space for condensers. Along with these issues, access to the plant area was also restricted. Finally, extract systems were required for the effective removal of heat from the internal refrigeration systems.
CCP HVAC liaised with the client closely to come up with a suitable and reliable solution. To begin with the condenser was stripped down and manually carried to the roof. Once here it was then rebuilt and placed in to its final position. In total there were eight ducted units which were installed in ceiling rafts. High velocity grills were also installed to control and force the air down during heating mode. To ensure that the heating was comfortably controlled, remote air sensors were fitted to moderate the temperatures.
Not only did CCP HVAC create and complete the complex solution, but it was done within the set deadlines to ensure that the shop opened on time. This particular Pret A Manger is now open and trading, with the air conditioning and ventilation performing extremely well.
Alex Chapman, Senior Project Manager, Pret A Manger (Europe) Ltd. says,
I wanted to send you an email to thank you all for your incredible efforts over the course of the last month. I know that the site has been a nightmare from the off due to the numerous hurdles that we’ve faced. You’re on site dedication and commitment is what pushed us over the line and the shop looked fantastic and opened on time yesterday. It has also been very well received by the Pret Directors. I am pleased to report that the AC was even fully working yesterday as well! Gentlemen, I salute you!
